Comely Stakes Preview: Three Graded Winners Face Off at Aqueduct in Epic Horse Race (2026)

In a race that could showcase several top-tier performers, three graded stakes winners plus a developing NY-bred filly are expected to command attention in the December 7 Comely Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct Racetrack. The 1 1/8-mile event on the main track features a strong field of eight fillies aged three.

Fully Subscribed, a Klaravich Stables acquisition trained by Chad Brown, enters as the likely favorite after a 4 1/2-length victory in the November 8 Mother Goose Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct. The Kentucky-bred daughter of Tiz the Law has been off the board in only one of four starts this year, following a neck-length defeat in a 1 1/8-mile allowance/optional claimer at Aqueduct on September 28. With a consistent run and a proven finishing kick, she will break from post 6 under Flavien Prat and is aiming to add a third consecutive improvement to her résumé.

Kappa Kappa, a Grade 2 winner by Omaha Beach out of a Pioneerof the Nile mare, delivered a 7-furlong victory in the Raven Run Stakes (G2) at Keeneland on October 18. While she has only tried two turns once—finishing second by 5 3/4 lengths in a one-mile test at Parx Racing—her trainer Butch Reid Jr. believes she has the necessary two-turn capability to handle the 1 1/8 miles in the Comely. Reid phrased it as a long-range plan to map out her schedule for next year, noting that the two-turn experience should help her navigate the longer distance. Kappa Kappa has three wins in four starts and is co-owned by Reid, LC Racing, and Cash is King. She will depart from post 5 with John Velazquez aboard, a rider who previously piloted her in the Raven Run.

Quietside, a Malibu Moon daughter trained by John Ortiz for Shortleaf Stable, is another graded-stakes winner in the lineup. She has shown resilience this season, Cage-like with a year-start layoff and a sixth-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) earlier this year after a pair of stakes victories in the Honeybee Stakes (G3) and Fantasy Stakes (G2) at Oaklawn Park. Quietside has demonstrated competence at distances of 1 1/16 miles or longer, holding a 2-2-1 record at those trips in six attempts. She will run from the outside post with Ricardo Santana Jr. aboard.

Valtellina, representing Pavilion Racing, is coming off a 2 1/4-length win in the Empire Distaff Stakes for New York-breds at Aqueduct, where the 1 1/8 miles distance suited her well. The Complexities filly has been either winning or placing in three consecutive New York-bred stakes since July and is conditioned by Ray Handal. Joel Rosario will ride from a favorable spot in the gate.

Rounding out the notable entrants is Ourdaydreaminggirl, a Kentucky-bred filly trained by Louis C. Linder Jr. for Ourdaydreaminggirl Stable, who has yet to break onto the board in the two most recent starts but carries potential as a developing challenger.

Entries and odds for the Comely S. (G3) on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Aqueduct Racecourse show these eight runners in the seventh race:
- Noticeable (Ky) – Jose Lezcano, 118 lbs, Todd A. Pletcher
- Valtellina (Ny) – Joel Rosario, 120 lbs, Raymond Handal
- Ourdaydreaminggirl (Ky) – Angel R. Rodriguez, 118 lbs, Louis C. Linder Jr.
- Ruth (Ky) – Kendrick Carmouche, 118 lbs, Todd A. Pletcher
- Kappa Kappa (Pa) – John R. Velazquez, 122 lbs, Robert E. Reid Jr.
- Fully Subscribed (Ky) – Flavien Prat, 122 lbs, Chad C. Brown
- Yes It Tiz (Ky) – Manuel Franco, 118 lbs, Brad H. Cox
- Quietside (Ky) – Ricardo Santana Jr., 122 lbs, John Alexander Ortiz

This competitive field promises a compelling showcase of developed talent and up-and-coming stakes contenders as they navigate a path toward major late-year and next-year objectives. Do you think Fully Subscribed will maintain her dominance, or could a longer-than-expected distance favor the two-turn capabilities of Kappa Kappa or Quietside? Share your thoughts in the comments.
