466 Main Street: Two-Tower Residential Complex in New Rochelle Unveiled (2026)

Imagine a bustling New Rochelle skyline transformed by a bold new addition: a gleaming two-tower residential complex rising at 466 Main Street. But here's where it gets controversial—while some celebrate the influx of housing and retail, others worry about the impact on the neighborhood's character. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Cuddy & Feder, this project promises to be a game-changer for the area. Here’s the full scoop: the 28-story towers will cover a whopping 929,415 square feet, offering 805 rental units, ground-floor retail, a 711-vehicle valet parking garage, and 25,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor amenities. And this is the part most people miss—the design isn’t just about height; it’s about blending functionality with aesthetics. The towers, connected by a multistory podium, feature floor-to-ceiling glass framed by beveled bronze-hued paneling, creating a modern yet cohesive look. Each tower’s central volume boasts expansive glass stretches with a staggered grid of mullions, adding a dynamic touch to the façade.

Located on a full block bounded by Main Street, North Avenue, Clinton Place, and Locust Avenue, the project replaces a two-story commercial structure and a surface-level parking lot. Building 1, at the northern end, will house 489 units, while Building 2 to the south will offer 316 apartments. The mix includes 257 studios, 377 one-bedrooms, 156 two-bedrooms, and 15 three-bedrooms—a diverse range catering to various lifestyles. Here’s a thought-provoking question: Is this the right balance between luxury and affordability? The amenities, like the outdoor swimming pools and amenity decks, certainly lean toward upscale living.

Renderings showcase the project’s North Avenue elevation and an aerial view of its rear side, revealing a cutout above the south tower’s podium for a pool. Building 1 extends east to Locust Avenue with a three-story panhandle, topped by another pool-equipped amenity deck. The New Rochelle Planning Board approved the site plan in October, and the project’s proximity to the Metro-North Railroad station—with direct access to Penn Station expected by 2027—adds to its appeal. However, a construction timeline remains undisclosed.
