About Acworth, GA
Acworth is a city in Cobb County in the Atlanta metropolitan area.  Acworth real estate includes the zip codes 30101 and 30102.  It is home to 17,428 residents as of 2005. Its nickname is The Lake City because it sits nearby Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth.

Acworth is located about 35 miles northwest of Atlanta and has convenient access to both Interstate 75 and Highway 41. The city also has a small town atmosphere with big-city events and opportunities—a quality many other cities envy. Along Lake Acworth is the Cobblestone Golf Course, which according to Golf Digest, is Georgia's number one public course.  History buffs marvel during the historic tour of the city, at the well-preserved architecture, and at sites of past wars.

Acworth is served by the Cobb County School District, which manages 124 schools and education centers with six magnet programs as well as an Advanced Placement Certified Schools program.  The district enrolls over 106,000 students and focuses on student achievement improvement, leader development, fiscal responsibility, and strengthened relationships among the community.  As of 2007, 80% of the district's high school seniors took the SAT and their average score surpassed the national average. There are 35 colleges, universities and vocational schools within 50 miles of Acworth, including Luther Rice University, Morehouse School of Medicine, North Georgia College and Reinhardt College.

Festivities

The city is a lively place as the Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of entertainment and activities throughout the year.  Among the events is the Love the Lake Arts and Crafts Festival, which features local arts, crafts, food, entertainment and recreation for kids. Lake Acworth's 360 acres is a prime spot for outdoor fun, providing catfish, largemouth bass, crappie and many other fishes for fishing.  Swimming and boating are also welcomed activities on the lake. The lake's park also provides pavilions for picnics and parties.  Acworth is also home to local Junior Olympic Skills Competition every spring. It is a national competition that allows children aged 8 through 13 to showcase athletic abilities. The competition leads to regional and national finals.
